Ron Crompton has 15 years experience of consulting to private and public sector clients in the transport and other industries, with a focus on strategy, organisation and financial transactions. He has worked for clients in the UK, Germany, Netherlands, France, Central/Eastern Europe, US, China and South Africa.

Ron has consulted in most transport sectors, including rail, trucking, shipping, aviation and third-party logistics. His consulting work has been mainly to providers of transport services, but he has also worked for logistics users (computer manufacturers, consumer goods companies), manufacturers (assemblers and component manufacturers in rail and aviation) and governments (primarily on privatisation and national transport strategy). He has also consulted in the telecommunications, forest products, food and consumer goods industries.

In financial transactions, Ron has provided due diligence, general bid and post-acquisition support to private equity firms, leasing companies, industrial bidders, and debt providers on a range of deals, including mergers and acquisitions, concession and privatisation bids, and domestic and cross-border leasing transactions.

Before founding Halkin Consulting, Ron spent 10 years as a partner in the Travel and Tranportation Group of Mercer Management Consulting. Prior to that he worked in industry as Finance and Logistics Director and Managing Director of various subsidiaries of a global consumer goods manufacturer. He also spent 5 years as a consultant with McKinsey & Co in London and New York, and worked for BP in their strategy department.

Ron obtained a B.Sc. in Economics from the University of Bristol and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
